Player Journals
v2.2.0 · June 30, 2026
Player Journals
Your players can now keep a shared journal right on the map — adding notes to the hexes they explore, so the whole party builds a record of what they found together.
- NewIn the shared view, players can add journal entries to a hex. New entries start from a template you write, so everyone logs discoveries in a consistent format, and entries appear for the rest of the party in real time.
- NewJourney-entry templates have a dedicated page — open Templates from your Dashboard — with a rich editor, and each template shows which maps it is used on.
- NewChoose per map which templates your players can use, right from the Share dialog — each map opts in to just the templates you pick for it.
- NewChoose whether players can journal any visible hex or only ones they have explored, and review their entries from the editor — including promoting a good entry into one of your own notes.
- NewShow or hide the player journal badges on your map from the View menu — clear them while you work, bring them back to review.
Share Password
Lock a shared map behind a password so only the people you give it to can open it.
- NewSet a password on any share from the Share dialog. Visitors must enter it before the map loads — a wrong or missing password shows nothing at all. Change or clear it any time; changing it locks everyone out until you share the new one.
Party marker
- ImprovedYour party marker now waits beside the map in the editor, ready to drag onto any hex — whether you are using dynamic vision or hand-painted fog. Previously it only appeared when dynamic vision was switched on.
- FixIn a shared map where players are allowed to move the party, they can now reposition the marker as often as they like. It used to get stuck after the first move.
- ImprovedThe party marker now reads as a proper gold token at every zoom level, instead of flattening into a plain yellow blob when zoomed out.
- FixThe party marker now stays in sync everywhere — moving it (by you in the editor, or by a player in a shared map) updates your map and every share link live, instead of the two drifting apart so it showed in one place but not the other.
- FixFixed a bug where editing a shared map could get stuck endlessly re-saving, with the status bar flickering between “Saving” and “Unsaved changes”. The live party-marker sync no longer mistakes your own save for a change and keeps re-triggering itself.
Sharing
- FixCreating a share link for a brand-new map now saves the map first and then makes the link, instead of silently doing nothing. If something goes wrong, you now see a clear error.
- FixA party marker you placed before creating a share link now shows up in the shared view right away, instead of being present on your map but missing for your players.
Vision & fog
- FixThe dynamic-vision boundary line no longer draws over hex place-name labels or note badges — those now sit above the vision edge, while still being hidden by fog where the area is unseen.
- FixThe party’s starting area is now remembered as explored. Previously, placing the party and then moving it away left the first spot fully fogged, as if it had never been seen.
- FixThe party marker and fog now show on the map as soon as you open it, instead of staying invisible until you toggled a vision setting to make them appear.
- FixPlayer-view image exports (PNG and SVG) now correctly hide unexplored areas when using dynamic vision. Previously a player export could reveal the whole map even though vision was on.
