How Fog Works in Hexer
Reveal hexes as players explore
Start with the entire map hidden. Click individual hexes to reveal them, or place a party marker that automatically clears a vision radius. Fog persists between sessions — pick up where you left off.
Three fog states
Hidden — completely obscured. Partial — terrain color visible but icons hidden. Visible — everything shown. You control the state per hex.
Dynamic vision modifiers
Terrain, weather, and time of day modify sight range. Dense forests reduce vision. Night cuts it further. Mountaintops extend it. All configurable.
Works on every layer
Each of the four layers — surface, upperdark, middledark, lowerdark — has independent fog. Reveal caves below without spoiling the surface. Learn about Underdark layers →
Share fog state live with your players.
You see the full map — every hex, note, and secret. Toggle to the player perspective with one click to preview exactly what they see through the fog.
Generate a share link and send it to your group. As you reveal hexes or move the party marker, their view updates instantly. Players don't need an account — just open the link.
