Journey Entries

v2.16.0 · August 19, 2026

Journey Entries

Writing a journey entry is now a calmer job: the journal opens in a window you can move and resize, and your party’s existing entries stay in view while you write.

  • ImprovedThe journal opens as a window you can drag, resize and minimise, instead of a fixed panel pinned to the edge of the map.
  • ImprovedEntries you have already written stay visible while you write a new one, and picking a template no longer hides them behind a separate screen.
  • ImprovedEach entry now shows the template it came from, so a hex with several entries is easier to read.
  • FixA blank entry is always available, even on maps with exactly one template applied.
  • FixCancelling no longer throws away what you typed — your draft is kept per hex until you save or clear it.
  • FixA map that has reached its journal entry limit now says so, instead of claiming you cannot write on that hex.

Template Placeholders

Templates can now fill themselves in. Drop a placeholder into a template and it becomes the real terrain, place name or region when a player starts an entry there.

  • NewTemplates support placeholders for terrain, place name and type, region, coordinates, layer, map name and date.
  • NewInsert placeholders from the palette above the editor, or by typing { and picking from the list.
  • NewA live preview shows what players receive — with real values, or on a bare hex, so you can check the wording still reads well when a placeholder has nothing to fill in.
  • NewFour ready-made templates — Arrival, Discovery, Encounter and Rumour — are offered when your template library is empty.
