Map Tokens

v2.13.0 · August 13, 2026

Map Tokens

Place movable markers on the map — armies, faction leaders, NPCs, puzzle pieces — separate from the terrain and feature icons underneath.

  • NewAdd tokens with the new Token tool: each gets a name, a faction colour, and an optional icon from a curated set of army and warband icons. A sidebar panel lists every token on the map. Tokens sharing a hex fan out in a ring; on a crowded hex the ring ends in a “+N” marker that fans out the rest by name.
  • NewControl who sees each token: Visible (shown to players even through fog), DM only, or In sight (shown only while the party has line of sight — needs Pro, since it depends on Dynamic Vision).
  • NewTurn on “Tokens” in the share settings to show them to players, filtered by the same visibility rules. Players can move any token you mark as player-movable. “Tokens” and “Party Marker” are separate switches, so either can be shown without the other.
  • ImprovedThe party marker is a token now. Place a token and switch on “Party marker” in its editor — Dynamic Vision follows it, and you move the party by dragging it like any other token. Only one per map holds the role; switching it on elsewhere hands it over, and switching it off leaves the token in place.
  • NewFree maps can place up to 3 tokens, the party marker included; Pro maps have no limit.
  • NewA token on a zoomed-in scale level also shows on the main map, on the hex containing it, so an army never disappears just because you zoomed out. Drag it from either view.

Shared View

  • FixThe party marker no longer jumps back to its previous hex a few seconds after a player moves it.
  • FixThe shared map no longer zooms or changes scale level on its own. Players who had zoomed or panned somewhere could be pulled elsewhere seconds later, without touching anything.
  • FixThe travel log no longer briefly reverts to an older state right after a party move.
  • FixRevoking a share link now cuts off the shared view immediately instead of up to a minute later.
  • ImprovedRemoved the location name badge above the map — the party marker and the location label already show where the party is.
  • ImprovedThe shared map redraws less after the party moves, so it settles sooner.

Sharing

  • FixClicking a note marker in the shared map view opened only one of the notes on that hex. It now opens all of them, matching the editor.
  • FixDynamic Vision did not reach the shared map view unless you switched it on while the share link already existed, leaving players with a map that stayed hidden however far the party travelled. Share links now follow the map’s Dynamic Vision setting, including links created earlier.

General

  • FixNote chips fanned out from a marker near the edge of the map area could be cut off, leaving that note impossible to open — most often on a phone. The fan now slides fully into view.
  • FixThe count on a hex holding several notes was blurry on zoomed-in scale levels, often unreadably so. It is now as sharp there as on the main map.
  • FixA note placed on a zoomed-in scale level also appeared on the main map, drawn far outside its edges. Markers now show only on the scale level they belong to.
  • FixInterrupting a path-point, region-label, or point-crawl node drag by pressing a tool shortcut no longer leaves that tool unresponsive.

Exports

  • FixSVG and Hex Key exports for players used to include every note regardless of fog. They now respect the same visibility rules as the shared map view.
